Other Important Info

Housing: It isn’t mandatory for our interns to live in the provided intern housing; however, we do highly encourage them to do this because it builds community among the interns. We ask for a donation of $200/month from those living in the intern house to help offset the costs of rent, utilities, and supplies. Bedrooms and bathrooms are shared and gender-specific.

Budget: We recommend that you consider your lifestyle and budget for food, gas, and additional spending money accordingly. We’d recommend about $1000/month, including the $200/month housing donation. But it really depends on your individual needs and lifestyle.

Fundraising: Interns must raise their own funds in order to participate in the program. We recommend looking to family, friends, churches, school organizations, and community groups for support. If you think of creative or unconventional fundraising methods, please let us know! We’re always looking to share new ideas with our supporters.

Activities/Materials Fee: We request a one-time $100 donation from interns for informational material, community activities, and other supplies.

Transportation: While not required, we encourage interns to bring their own form of transportation. Most intern groups have one or two people bring a car to carpool and split gas costs.

School Credit: If you’d like to receive school credit for the internship, talk with your academic advisor or guidance counselor to begin that process; it will look different at each school. We’re happy to work with you to make sure you have everything you need to receive credit.
