Digital Marketing Assistant (Independent Contractor)
Location: Remote (U.S.-based applicants only)
Status: Independent Contractor (1099) | 29-35 hours/week | 6-9 months with possibility of extension
Compensation: $26-$28/hour (1099)
Reports to: Sr. Director of Communications + Marketing
To Write Love on Her Arms is a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. We exist to encourage, inform, inspire, and invest directly in treatment and recovery.
We’re seeking a creative and data-minded Digital Marketing Assistant (Independent Contractor) to help share our message. If you’re a self-driven freelancer with a passion for mental health advocacy, digital storytelling, and community-building, we’d love to hear from you.
Scope of Work
Email Marketing & List Growth
- Draft, format, and schedule campaigns in coordination with content planning
- Monitor performance metrics: open rate, click-throughs, conversions
- Maintain and segment email lists; recommend list growth strategies
Website Support & SEO
- Support website content updates for accuracy, accessibility, and navigation
- Recommend SEO improvements (metadata, keywords, alt text)
- Track web performance (traffic, bounce rate, user flow)
Social Media Assistance
- Schedule content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
- Develop short-form videos tailored for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok
- Track and report engagement, reach, and audience growth
You’ll Thrive in This Role If You…
- Are an independent contractor or freelancer with 2-4 years of digital marketing experience
- Own and use your own tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, video editors, email platforms).
- Are comfortable writing compelling copy for a variety of digital media channels
- Work well independently and meet agreed-upon deadlines
- Understand how to align content with a brand’s tone and voice
- Care deeply about mental health advocacy and online community-building
Bonus Points For…
- Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, or mental health-related work
- Familiarity with platforms like Klaviyo, Google Analytics, Sprout Social, etc.
- Strong grasp of SEO, accessibility standards, and digital marketing best practices
