800,000 people die by suicide each year. That’s one person every 40 seconds. For each death, there are an additional 25 attempts. These numbers are a sobering reminder of the work that needs to be done, of the people who suffer in silence. They are evidence that stigma and shame have prevented so many people from speaking up and reaching out.
In honor of World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10) and National Suicide Prevention Week (September 8-14), we’re working to share a universal message: You make today better.

And on Tuesday, September 10 we’re encouraging people to use their WSPD pack to help spread this message of hope and start conversations about suicide prevention in their community. You can wear your WSPD shirt, use the sticky notes to tell someone why they make today better, put up the tear-away poster as a reminder to strangers or loved ones that they are not alone, and fill out your response card and share it on social media.

You can also help us raise life-saving funds for people who need treatment. To learn more and to get your World Suicide Prevention Day pack visit the campaign here: YouMakeTodayBetter.com
