Since 2006, TWLOHA has invested $2.65 million in treatment and recovery—making it possible for people to sit with a counselor or attend a support group when they need it the most. And each year, we invite supporters through our World Suicide Prevention Day campaign to continue supporting the Treatment & Recovery Scholarship Program. The funds raised represent a collective belief that people not only deserve but should have access to professional mental health care.
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
TWLOHA’s Treatment & Recovery Scholarship exists to help eliminate financial barriers that keep people from accessing mental health care. Please read the following information before applying:
- Individuals can apply to receive scholarships for anywhere between one to six months of support toward individual counseling sessions and group therapy, as well as funding to help access higher levels of care.
- Scholarship funds can be applied toward a therapist or provider you’ve selected if they meet TWLOHA’s criteria and are licensed, or work within a licensed facility to provide mental health services. If you don’t have a counselor or provider selected, you may still apply and we can offer assistance in helping you find one. For those interested in exploring a digital mental health option, we’re excited to share a digital support option through our partnership with Meru Health. (You’ll find additional details below.)
- Applications and awards for the Treatment & Recovery Scholarship Program are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. We are currently accepting applications for people looking for support now through December 31, 2021.
Once you’ve submitted an application our team will contact you directly. It may take up to three weeks to fully process your application depending on your provider’s responsiveness. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a mental health provider, we encourage you to check out our FIND HELP Tool. Or, if you’re in need of support right now, we encourage you to reach out to our friends at Crisis Text Line. Simply text TWLOHA to 741741 to be connected to a trained crisis counselor for free, 24/7 support.
If you have questions about your application, special circumstances, or how to find a counselor, please read through the FIND HELP FAQ first. You can also send us an email at FINDHELP@twloha.com with the subject line: “2021 Application Help – [Your Initials].”
MERU HEALTH x TWLOHA
We know that sometimes finances are not the only barrier to accessing mental health services. Sometimes people live in a place where they don’t have physical access to options for counseling. With that in mind, we’re proud to partner with Meru Health, an online mental healthcare provider. Eligible scholarship recipients can participate in a 12-week digital program to help treat anxiety, depression, and burnout. The program includes access to daily chat support from a licensed therapist, a biofeedback device, anonymous peer and psychiatrist support, mindfulness practices, and habit-changing activities for sleep, nutrition, and more—accessed anytime and anywhere through your smartphone. You can learn more about our partnership with Meru here. Please note, to be eligible to sign up you must first receive an award number from TWLOHA by completing the Scholarship Application.
Note: All of the 12-week program spots are currently full, however, we are accepting applicants to be included on a waiting list for 2022. Or, if you qualify to participate in the current research opportunity, you may have access to a seat immediately.
