You are worth the effort

About the Toolkit

This toolkit offers accessible and introductory mental health exercises tailored specifically for you. Each tool is crafted to be completed in 5 to 20 minutes, making it an ideal starting point. After all, it's not a matter of if life's storms will come, but how we navigate through them when they do.

This project is a joint effort between To Write Love on Her Arms and Move Into Light, an initiative of Brevard Prevention Coalition.

We know that it's difficult to learn new skills but hold on to this truth:
You are worth the effort. Let's dive in.

Supporting Your Basic Mental Health Needs

Hope is gritty and so is taking care of our fundamental mental health needs. In certain seasons, it takes everything we have to meet a few or each of these needs. Use this as a guide to remind yourself that these needs play a vital role in your mental health.

  • Nourish your body with nutrient-dense food and hydrate to support overall well-being
  • Prioritize adequate rest and quality sleep to rejuvenate your mind and body
  • Engage in regular movement to invigorate yourself and enhance your mood
  • Create connections with others to cultivate a sense of belonging and support
  • Remind yourself you’re alive by participating in the things you love
  • Make sure you have a safe space to process your feelings and experiences like through therapy, journaling, or confiding in loved ones
  • Allow yourself moments of quiet and solitude to recharge and decompress from external stimuli

Beyond meeting our basic needs, we know that mental health does not exist in a vacuum—things like our finances, environment, and interpersonal relationships can become obstacles to taking care of ourselves. The resources below offer moments to cope with life's stressors. We invite you to explore the variety of tools provided here.

Stories of Hope

Music is a Safe Place

As humans with hearts and emotions, music is exceptionally important. It's a safe outlet for us to explore and express who we are and what feel authentically. It's a way to feel known and understood. That's why we've curated four playlists, with the help of our team and community, to extend that invitation.
