About the Role
We’re hiring an LGBTQIA+ Peer Support Group Facilitator to lead weekly evening peer support groups for LGBTQIA+ community members in Brevard County. Groups run approximately 1.5 hours and provide a culturally affirming, trauma-informed space grounded in lived experience—not clinical treatment. The primary in-person facilitation is located in Brevard County, with additional opportunities for weekly virtual group facilitation.
Schedule: One evening group per week (~90 min), plus brief setup, debrief, and documentation. Estimated 3.5-4 hours/week with potential to add a weekly virtual group.
Compensation: $100 per group; includes administrative duties, setup, and check-ins; 1099 contractor.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate monthly in-person peer support groups in Brevard County
- Potential to add weekly virtual peer support groups in Brevard County
- Create a welcoming, confidential, culturally affirming space
- Lead check-ins, discussion, and grounding/closing practices
- Hold space for conversations around racial trauma, identity, mental health, and community
- Provide warm referrals to clinical or crisis resources when appropriate
- Track attendance and submit brief session summaries
Qualifications
- Lived experience as a LGBTQIA+ individual
- Prior experience facilitating peer support, recovery, or community groups
- Strong active listening and group facilitation skills
- Working knowledge of trauma-informed principles
- Reliable evening availability and transportation to the assigned site
- Knowledge of the Zoom platform
- Clear understanding that this is a peer role, not a clinical one
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred: Florida CRPS credential (or willingness to pursue), Mental Health First Aid, QPR training, bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole), connection to LGBTQIA+ communities in Brevard County.
