Barriers to Help

Episode Details

In this episode, TWLOHA Director of Outreach Chad Moses and Licensed Mental Health Counselor Denny Kolsch continue the #WorthLivingFor conversation by teaming up to address your questions about mental healthcare, how we can make resources more accessible, and the process of finding a counselor that’s the best match for you. Far too often, when people seek out professional help, they’re met with hurdles and challenges like affordability, geographical access, privacy and safety, and even not knowing what’s available to them. By understanding and identifying what stands in the way of people getting the help they need and deserve, we can work to eliminate those barriers.

“Just to play off that metaphor of rock bottom one more time, your bottom is wherever you decide to bounce, you know? So it doesn't have to be at a certain depth. But wherever you take that first step towards finding help, that's when you get to kind of begin your return on an upward trajectory. So not everyone's [rock] ‘bottom’ is going to look the same. And we don't need to explore the depths to see how far that goes. But any point that you're prepared to start making that journey towards health, those options will be available for you.”

This episode of the TWLOHA podcast was hosted by Chad Moses and produced by Lindsay Kolsch, with editorial support by Rebecca Ebert. Music assistance was provided by James Likeness and Ben Tichenor.
