Losing Someone to Suicide

Episode Details

In this episode, host Chad Moses is joined by animator, illustrator, and mental health advocate Steve Nguyen to talk about being a survivor of suicide loss and the #WorthLivingFor campaign. Steve opens up about losing both his significant other and a friend just days apart while in college and how he faced processing anger, guilt, and the questions that often follow such heartbreaking loss. Steve also discusses how time and working with a counselor have helped him find peace and hope. His story is a reminder that the small things, and even the unexpectedly beautiful things, are worth living for.

“Nothing can bring back the person you lost. Right? But having someone to live life to the fullest for is a beautiful thing. And now it gives so much meaning to your life. So in going through this journey, life finds a way to reward you with the most beautiful things you never thought was ever possible. And you just have to allow life to offer these things to you because you deserve it. And you know, in due time, you'll come to realize that you deserve to accept all the good things that happened to you from that moment forward. Like when you embrace the beauty that your new normal has to offer.”
