National Suicide Prevention Week may be coming to a close but that doesn’t mean we stop showing up and caring about our mental health and the well-being of others. The TWLOHA movement and our mission can be supported 365 days a year!
Donate Your Birthday
Turn your big day into a celebration of hope by donating your birthday to TWLOHA through Facebook. It’s a chance to celebrate your story and to give those struggling a chance to find the hope and help they deserve. Find out how here.
Become an Intern or Volunteer
Interested in joining the TWLOHA team? Our Intern Program is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those in need of help, support, and healing. Interns and volunteers are invited to join us remotely (work from wherever you are) or at our headquarters in Melbourne, Florida, to live in community while developing both personally and professionally.
Host a Virtual MOVE Training or Book a TWLOHA Speaker
MOVE is a one- or two-day workshop led by professional counselors where we explore things like depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide, what recovery looks like, and how we can make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling. If you’re interested in hosting a virtual training, email our team at [email protected]. You can also contact us at [email protected] if you’re wanting to book a TWLOHA speaker.
Join TWLOHA Blue
TWLOHA Blue is a monthly donor program that helps us connect people to FIND HELP resources and meet people (when it’s safe to do so) where they are at over 195 events each year. Join TWLOHA Blue and help hope go further.
Bring TWLOHA to Your School
If you’re a high school student, or you work with high school students, we encourage you to learn more about bringing TWLOHA’s High School Program to your school. Learn more about the program here.
Use Your Vote
Every election is an opportunity to use your vote to support candidates that are prioritizing mental health care and funding for mental health resources at the federal, state, and local level. You can also contact your current elected representative to help pass bills like the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act (H.R.4194/S.2661), which would create a three-digit number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline — because having easy access to life-saving resources matters. You can also check out Mental Health America’s Public Policy Center to learn more about important issues. For additional information on how YOU can impact policy change, check out our conversation with Andy Slavitt here.
Advocate
As you’ve spent the last few weeks amplifying a conversation about suicide and mental health, we hope you will continue to raise your voice, share your story, and combat stigma through talking about the hard things. Throughout the upcoming months and even the next year, we encourage you to honor yourself and others by being courageous and open within the mental health discussion. Just by speaking up, you are making a world of difference.
Seek Help
Sometimes we’re so busy advocating for others that we forget about ourselves, or we continue to believe the lie that we are not worthy of help. The truth is: you deserve to have access to the professional care you need. One significant way you can combat that lie is by seeking help and caring for your mental health well-being. You can use our FIND HELP Tool to get started.
