Pride Keeps People Alive

By To Write Love on Her ArmsJune 1, 2025

Welcome to Pride Month.

It’s no secret that the Queer community is facing hostility and external pressure on many levels. There’s harmful rhetoric. The threat of budget cuts to essential services. The push for policies that not only dismiss but attempt to erase trans people. This discourse does not serve the greater good, it fuels broader hate and discrimination. In a moment where so many have turned their backs on the LGBTQIA+ community, it has never been more important to remember that pride keeps people alive.

This month and all its ensuing celebrations are not just parades, rainbows, and parties—though those are great, too. Pride Month is a moment where people across the globe will be reminded that who they are is not shameful, broken, or wrong. They will be reminded that there are people who care deeply about them and want to see them thrive fully as themselves.

Pride is an intentional moment to give people the hope to keep moving forward, and we’ll never miss an opportunity to express and celebrate that.

To the person who will come out to friends and family for the very first time this month: We hope you receive every ounce of love and acceptance you deserve.

To the person who is feeling fearful of what may be taken from them: We will never stop speaking out to support you and advocate for the care you are worthy of.

To the person attending their first Pride parade with joy: Hold onto the hope you feel when surrounded by those who understand, and carry it with you everywhere you go.

To the person feeling disappointment and anger at the hate that is becoming louder and louder: Anger isn’t something to be suppressed at all costs. Let it fuel your desire to support those around you. Let it be the reminder that your voice cannot be silenced.

No matter who you are, where you are, or what this month means to you, we hope you know that you will always belong here. Your existence is not up for debate, and you deserve to be fully loved, known, and celebrated. Today and every day, Pride remains a necessary act of love, resistance, joy, and survival.

May Pride give you joy. May Pride give you a space to exist authentically. May Pride keep you, and anyone else struggling, alive.

We’re so glad you’re here.
