Hi Guys.
We are on the road and have become fast friends with the guys from Bayside. They are an amazing band from New York City, and their story is something important.
On October 31, 2005, Bayside’s van crashed while on tour, and their drummer, John “Beatz” Holohan, was killed. Many wondered if the band would go on, if they could continue to to tour and make records in the face of such tragedy. Bayside surprised a ton of people when they returned to finish the tour only two weeks later, playing acoustic each night. They turned down interview requests from various mainstream media outlets, refusing to capitalize on the death of their friend. On February 6, Bayside released “The Walking Wounded”, their best work to date.
We are completely honored that our paths have crossed and we are out on the road with these guys until April. Bayside is making some of today’s most powerful and honest rock and roll. Songs of broken things, songs of moving on, songs of survival and change. Their live show is incredible every single night. I speak each night after they play, and it’s really intimidating because they are so good and the crowd is so alive by the end of their set.
Bayside has a new drummer. His name is Chris Guglielmo and he is one of the coolest, kindest human beings on this planet. (As a sidenote: Chris has been stagediving during Anberlin’s set lately, so Buffalo, please be prepeared, and please catch him) Chris wore a TWLOHA shirt, a Deon actually, when Bayside performed on Conan last night. We would love for you to watch it here:
Thanks beyond words to Chris and Bayside. We love you guys.
Peace to you from Buffalo.
