“We’re all just walking each other home.” – Ram Dass
Along with the highs, I also let others see a glimpse of my lows.
We must seek and find each other, lean into and onto each other, and be honest with those we feel safest around.
My head kept whispering that I didn’t belong.
What if we posted our insecurities and fears? What if we were vulnerable?
Yes, I’ve gotten through some of the toughest moments of my life completely alone, but I don’t need to.
I’m a queer person. There, I said it. Nothing too wild or unique about that. Did I mention that I also used to be a pastor?
While we spend significant time online conversing with others, that doesn’t seem to replace our need for more old-school connections.
You don’t deserve to be alone, and you don’t deserve to feel the pain of isolation.
He was a friendly and familiar face at a time when I felt incredibly alone.
The best you have to offer others will never be a cure-all method, a one-size-fits-most fix. The best you have to offer will always be yourself.
My hope is that a fellow Mexican-American will read this and feel seen and heard and validated.
