My best advice to someone dealing with a mental illness is this: figure out what helps you the most.
You don’t have to suffer for your art. You don’t have to prioritize your creativity over your health. You don’t have to destroy your life because of a lie stigma wants you to believe.

Have you ever felt scared and alone? Helpless, hopeless, or worthless? Like everything is suddenly out of control?
So while we can’t expect it to be steady and linear, recovery from mental illness is undeniably possible. No matter the number of times we take one step back, there are always steps forward awaiting to be taken.
For years I opted out of applying for Bonnaroo because I believed that TWLOHA would simply get lost in the enormity of the event; as it turns out, there was absolutely a place for us.
