You’ve likely heard that social media is bad for your brain...
In many ways, our work together has felt sacred.
Today, as a Black immigrant in the United States, these words hold an even deeper meaning.
Surviving is a special occasion, and every day lived is a day worth celebrating.
“Who am I?” when aspects of my identity no longer make sense or when they have been stripped away, supposedly leaving a chunk missing.
I have always been hard on myself, constantly looking for reasons I didn’t belong or why I had to try harder than everyone else.
Along with the highs, I also let others see a glimpse of my lows.
While holding acceptance in one hand, I must also hold onto hope in the other.
Healing isn't pretty. It's a messy, painful, and exhaustive process.
Your mind talks to your body, and your body talks to your mind. I would even consider them to be friends.
The hard part was deciding which mask was appropriate depending on the person and the situation.
I was merely an empty shell, incapable of anything except constant pondering about how everything was futile and a waste of energy.
